Information for Newly Registered Families for the Pre-primary Programs in the SRCE for the 2025-2026 School Year

Thank you for registering your child in the Pre-primary Program in the SRCE for the 2025-2026 school year.

At this time, the anticipated start date for our Pre-primary Programs is Tuesday, September 2, 2025. There are no classes for all Pre-primary children on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Program hours will vary, depending on individual school schedules. For information regarding your school’s program, please refer to Pre-primary Program: Information Handbook. You may also access additional information at Pre-primary Programs in the SRCE.

Families are reminded Pre-primary is a voluntary program. It is up to families to determine if and how often your child will attend.

Busing and Associated Information
In the SRCE, busing is available to all Pre-primary children eligible to receive bus service. Please contact SRCE Transportation staff by phone at 902-747-3645 or by email at [email protected] to determine your family’s eligibility to receive bus service.

Please note that busing for all Pre-primary children and Grades Primary to 12 students will begin on Thursday, September 4, 2025. As a result, it may be necessary for families to arrange transportation for their child if they plan to attend Pre-primary on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Bus orientation for families who require it is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the pre-primary site your child attends.

The Motor Vehicle Act requires all riders under 40 pounds to use a seat belt on a school bus, if it is available. Parents/guardians will be asked to enter the bus to buckle or unbuckle your child. A staff person will meet your child at the school to unbuckle them and will buckle them in when they leave.

Orientation Sessions
Staff will be planning orientation sessions for families in each of the Pre-primary Program locations, before Programs open on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. We anticipate these sessions to take place on Friday, August 29, 2025. You will be contacted by your child’s Lead Early Childhood Educator sometime between August 25 to 28, 2025, with more information.

Additional Information and Questions
If you require information prior to the orientation session, please contact Motunrayo (Rayo) Owoyomi, Pre-primary Lead for Antigonish and Guysborough County schools, 902-631-5753; or May MacKenzie, Pre-primary Lead for Inverness and Richmond County schools, 902-631-5711.
